West Warwick Secures $118,400 energy grant

WEST WARWICK — One of the first projects that Assistant to the Town Manager Luke Peterson began when he came to the town in August has come to fruition, announced Town Manager James Thomas this week.

By writing an energy efficiency grant, Peterson secured an $118,400 Recovery Act grant from the Department of Energy, he said.

The grant came in two weeks ago, Peterson said, but he had to finish the paperwork associated with making it official.
Because it is a Recovery Act grant, one of the stipulations is that the money be spent quickly, Peterson said.

Already, the town has engaged Concord, Mass. based consulting firm, Enerspective Inc, to assess the town’s needs and determine the most cost-effective project they can embark on, he said.
